Scientist I (Raw Material Continuity Team)

As QuidelOrtho continues to grow, we are seeking to appoint a Scientist I to join our Raw Material Continuity team in Pencoed on a permanent basis. This role will work a standard days shift pattern.

About QuidelOrtho, Pencoed

QuidelOrtho has been manufacturing products in South Wales for over 40 years. Our state-of-the-art manufacturing facility, based in Pencoed, employs over 600 people who are involved in the manufacture and supply of clinical laboratory and immunohematology products to sites across the globe.

Our Pencoed team manufacture a large menu of immunohematology products used in transfusion medicine; in addition to a large menu of immunoassay products encompassing a range of disease categories.

On site we have a range of functions operating globally & locally. All our employees are working towards one common goal, to help save and improve lives through diagnostics.

Your new role:

As a Scientist I within our Raw Material Continuity team, you will be accountable for the verification/validation activities required to achieve the Shelf-Life Extension of critical and/or high value Raw Materials.

What You’ll Be Doing:
  • Project management of verification/validation activities required to achieve the Shelf-Life Extension of critical and/or high value Raw Materials in accordance with Quality Systems, Standards and Regulations as defined in QuidelOrtho's Quality Manual.
  • Processing data, analysing data and drawing conclusions from data.
  • Ownership/oversight of Change Request/Notices and other quality documentation in line with project timelines and business needs.
  • Where necessary, conducting scientific lab operations. Lab work will include the competent use of lab equipment such as pipettes, balances and where trained, the use of other analytical instruments and QuidelOrtho end-user equipment. Ensuring compliance to all relevant GLP, GDP and EHS standards.
  • Performing the interpretation & analysis and documentation of scientific data. Providing conclusions and recommendations to the business, based on data extracted from the investigation/project work.
  • Support for the Restocks/Supplier team projects and participation in QO Improvement Culture (QIC) and Cost Improvement Projects (CIP) to support the Pencoed Operations goals and objectives.
What You’ll Need to Succeed:
  • Ideally degree educated in relevant Scientific discipline, or possessing relevant experience in a similar role and industry.
  • Demonstratable data analysis skills. Previous experience of using Minitab and Excel could be an advantage.
  • Knowledge of Operations/Manufacturing environments.
