Overview

Full-time, term time plus role – 37.5 hours per week, 36 weeks per year. Salary: £22,347. We are looking to appoint a Science Technician to join our team as soon as possible. The successful applicant will support the Science department by assisting with practical experiments, and ensuring laboratories are kept safe under the direction of the Science Laboratory Manager and the Head of Science.

Responsibilities
  • Support the science teachers in experiments and lessons, aiding in testing practical experiments, designing and constructing new practical for class experiments.
  • Arrange teacher demonstrations, student practical work and participate in the practical examination preparation.
  • Work carefully and with due common sense at all times and with due regard to the Worth School Safety Policy, following the safety recommendations of CLEAPPS, the Science Laboratory Manager and the Head of Science in all aspect of the manipulation of scientific materials.
  • Clear, clean and store used practical materials with due regard to health and safety after lessons have been completed in the Science Department.
  • Assist in science lessons when required.
  • Keeping the Science Department to a high level of maintenance, ensuring proper storage of hazardous materials.
What We Are Looking For
  • Educated to A Level or equivalent level or experience. (Essential)
  • A good standard of English and Maths. (Essential)
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications. (Essential)
  • Educated to degree level/equivalent in a Scientific discipline. (Desirable)
  • Experience as a Science Technician. (Desirable)
  • Experience in working in a school environment. (Desirable)
