An NHS Foundation Trust in London is looking for a Resident doctor in Gastroenterology. This 12-month position offers the chance to work in a large tertiary unit, gaining extensive experience in various aspects of gastroenterology, including patient care, endoscopy, and teaching opportunities. The ideal candidate will have at least 1 year of experience and an MBBS or equivalent, with a salary of £44,439 per annum plus London weighting.

This is a 12 month post based at University College Hospital in the Gastroenterology Department. It is a unique opportunity to join a large tertiary gastroenterology unit and gain experience looking after a wide range of patients including IBD, nutrition, hepatology, pancreatobiliary medicine and upper GI. The post-holder contributes to inpatient care on the ward, specialist MDT and has opportunities to gain experience in upper and lower GI endoscopy, GI physiology and other specialist GI services. The role includes protected time for clinical audit, service improvement and research.

Our UCLH Gastroenterology unit is one of the largest in the UK and the post offers exposure to all aspects of Gastroenterology, covered by the 14 Consultants within the department. Subspecialty areas of expertise include clinical nutrition/intestinal failure, oesophagogastric/laser medicine, inflammatory bowel disease, GI physiology and pancreaticobiliary medicine. There are a number of educational meetings run each week, including a journal club, specialist multidisciplinary meetings, a "morning report" and seminars with invited speakers. The department has a committed audit programme. The post holder may also take an active role in undergraduate teaching.
This post is subject to the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act (Exceptions Order) 1975 and as such it will be necessary for a submission for Disclosure to be made to the Disclosure and Barring Service (formerly known as CRB) to check for any previous criminal convictions.
