Job description
Overview

Assisting the registered therapists in the delivery of high quality rehabilitation care and to support discharges from hospital. Working directly with patients to carry out treatment programs as directed by the therapists and reporting back. Assisting the therapists in delivering interventions with patients. Working with the wider multidisciplinary team, attending handovers and feeding information into and back from the therapy team.

Responsibilities
  • Be part of the Stroke Therapy team to assist registered Physiotherapists, Occupational Therapists and Speech Therapists in the provision of therapeutic care and rehabilitation to stroke patients.
  • Demonstrate empathy, excellent communication skills and a willingness to work in a healthcare setting.
  • Contribute to the wider multidisciplinary team and weekend service; undertake administrative tasks, equipment management, cleaning duties and general IT skills as required.
  • Work as directed by qualified therapists, and be confident and competent in carrying your own caseload and reporting back to the team. Motivate patients to maximise their rehabilitation potential.
  • Experience on a hospital ward and moving and handling skills are advantageous. A willingness to learn and develop new skills is expected.
  • Demonstrate excellent communication with patients, their families and the multidisciplinary team. Be able to motivate and encourage patients with their therapy, and maintain an empathetic nature.
  • Administrative tasks and equipment management, including note writing and data collection for audits; good general IT skills are required.
