Job Purpose

  • Providing a receptionist and general information service for all users, including Members, staff, customers, contractors, tourists and the general public visiting any of the council city centre premises; and operating the retail area located at the reception area in the City Hall and any additional retail areas that may be established at any of the city centre premises.
Key Duties/Accountabilities
  • Carry out the Reception Administrator duties at all assigned Council city centre premises on the basis of rotas developed by the unit
  • Deal effectively, efficiently and in a friendly manner with tourists, visitors, the public, members of council and staff
  • Deal with all reception desk enquiries, including the display, holding and issuing of relevant council information, and as required issue information on special events and initiatives
  • Issue visitor and contractor passes and use all supplied systems and services to do so, and give directions when required
  • Assist as required with the receipt, reconciliation and safe-keeping of income received in respect of the operation of retail areas and admission activities, including the display, sale, replenishment and stock-taking of merchandise
Essential Experience Required
  • At least one year’s relevant experience in providing a reception service, preferably for a large organisation
  • At least one year’s relevant experience in dealing with enquiries from internal and external customers, both in person and over the telephone, providing a high level of customer service
