Job description
Overview

An exciting opportunity has arisen to join our team as a B5 X-Ray radiographer. We welcome applications from qualified radiographers with NHS experience as well as 2025 graduates. This position carries a commitment to out of hours duties at Derriford Hospital and our peripheral sites as part of an AfC compliant rota. You will be expected to work flexible hours across the week.

Education and training are central to our approach. All new team members will be supported with a structured induction led by our Practice Education team, including mentorship and image review as part of our team-wide comprehensive radiographer development programme. The department supports a 4-tier radiography structure with Assistant Practitioners, reporting radiographers, advanced clinical practitioners and consultant radiographers, and we are committed to offering opportunities to gain experience in specialist areas.

The department hosts undergraduate radiographers on placement from two local HEIs and trains apprentice radiographers and Assistant Practitioners. You will be actively involved in their training and supervision as part of your role.

Responsibilities
  • Provide X-Ray imaging across trauma, general and orthopaedics imaging, theatre and mobile imaging, paediatrics, fluoroscopy and dental radiography.
  • Work as part of a radiography team within Derriford Hospital and peripheral sites; participate in an AfC compliant rota including out of hours duties.
  • Be involved in training and supervision of undergraduate students, apprentices and Assistant Practitioners as part of the department’s training ethos.
  • Engage with the Practice Education team for induction, mentorship and ongoing professional development.
Qualifications and Experience
  • Qualified radiographer with NHS experience or a 2025 graduate.
  • Demonstrated commitment to professional development and to working within a 4-tier radiography structure.
