Overview
We represent a long-established North Wales based manufacturing business that designs and manufactures premium quality, safety‑critical products. They seek a progressive and people‑focused Quality Manager (HSE responsible) to drive a strong culture of quality, health and safety across a busy multi‑process manufacturing shop floor. The role drives the improvement of quality and safety related KPIs, develops and enhances the quality and safety management system, and encourages ownership of quality and safety performance across all employees and departments.
The QHSE Manager will lead a small team of engineers and technicians, coach and mentor to develop their skills, and be responsible for customer and supplier liaison as well as leading internal plant quality problem solving and improvement.
Responsibilities
- Lead and champion QHSE across the site, driving improvements to quality and health & safety KPIs.
- Develop, implement and continuously improve the quality and safety management system (QSMS).
- Coach and mentor a small team of engineers and technicians.
- Cooperate with other departments to drive joint projects and build solid relationships with procurement, engineering and production.
- Engage with customers and suppliers; manage liaison with an international customer base as required.
- Lead internal plant quality problem solving and preventive/corrective actions (e.g., 8D, CAPA, FMEA, PPAP, SPC).
- Apply problem‑solving tools and methodologies; monitor quality and safety performance against targets.
- Take a hands‑on, go‑see‑it approach to problem solving and take ownership while remaining collaborative with the team.
- Support the site’s NPD pipeline within a Group of Companies, aiming for world‑class performance and conditions.
Qualifications & Skills
- Significant experience in a Quality Manager, QHSE Manager or senior quality engineering role; some prior HSE leadership experience is preferred.
- Experience in a mechanical/assembly manufacturing setting.
- Preferably qualified in engineering.
- Strong knowledge and application of problem‑solving tools (8D, 5Y, CAPA, FMEA, Pareto, Ishikawa, PPAP, SPC).
- Good knowledge of ISO standards; experience with AS9100 or IATF16949 is preferred.
- Confident in customer liaison and managing an international customer base.
- Excellent collaborator; able to work closely with procurement, engineering and production to drive cross‑functional projects.
- NEBOSH or IOSH certification is preferred; NEBOSH training will be offered as required.
- Hands‑on, proactive attitude with a practical, data‑driven approach to problem solving.
