The Role of the Quality Engineer:
- Leading investigations into product and process non-conformities, identifying root causes and implementing corrective/preventive actions.
- Developing and maintaining quality documentation including control plans, FAIRs, inspection procedures, and audit reports.
- Supporting new product introductions to ensure quality requirements are met during development and launch phases.
- Conducting internal and supplier audits to ensure compliance with AS9100 and other relevant standards.
- Collaborating with cross-functional teams to improve manufacturing processes and reduce defects.
- Analysing quality data and trends to identify opportunities for improvement.
- Providing training and guidance on quality tools, standards, and best practices.
- Participating in APQP, PPAP, and FMEA activities to support product and process validation.
- Promoting a culture of continuous improvement and upholding high standards of health, safety, and environmental compliance.
The Person for the Quality Engineer:
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills with a proactive approach to quality improvement.
- Strong communication and interpersonal abilities; capable of working collaboratively across departments.
- Detail-oriented, self-motivated, and able to manage multiple priorities effectively.
- Competent with quality management systems and data reporting tools.
- Understanding of cost of poor quality and its impact on business performance.
- Knowledge of Lean Manufacturing tools (e.g., Kaizen, Value Stream Mapping).
- Awareness of HSE regulations and ability to integrate safety into quality processes.
Qualifications & Experience:
- Degree in Engineering, Quality Management, or a related discipline.
- Proven experience in a Quality Engineering role within a manufacturing or engineering environment.
- Strong understanding of AS9100 and ISO 9001 quality systems.
- Skilled in Root Cause Analysis, CAPA, and FMEA methodologies.
- Experience with APQP, PPAP, and supplier quality management.
- Ability to interpret technical drawings and specifications.
- Proficient in data analysis and reporting (Excel or quality software).
A valid UK driving licence is required as occasional travel may be involved.
