Job summary

A regional healthcare provider in Basingstoke seeks a motivated Psychological Therapist to provide CBT to patients aged 16+. Candidates should possess a Postgraduate Diploma in High Intensity IAPT or equivalent and have significant experience in mental health services. NHS Talking Therapies Hampshire (NHSTTH) is an exciting, transformative and expanding psychological therapies service. We are looking to recruit highly motivated, enthusiastic and passionate High Intensity Psychological Therapists. The postholders will join our Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) team providing in‑person CBT to patients aged 16+ who present with a range of complex anxiety and depression related problems for which CBT is demonstrated to be clinically effective.

The post holder will work with people of different cultural backgrounds and ages, using interpreters when necessary and should be committed to equal opportunities.

We are a strong partnership service; comprised of a collaboration between Hampshire and Isle of Wight Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust and Solent Mind charity, who strive to deliver a high quality, evidence‑based, service user‑centred therapy service, to the population of Hampshire.

This post is in‑person, working in clinical locations across the North team (Basingstoke, Winchester).

Main duties of the job
  • Accept referrals via agreed protocols within the service
  • Assess patient suitability for psychological interventions via the phone, video and in‑person
  • Offer High Intensity treatment in individual and group format
  • Make decisions on suitability of new referrals, adhering to NHS Talking Therapies Hampshire referral protocols, and refer unsuitable patients on to the relevant service or back to the referral agent as necessary and set out in the SOP.
  • Conduct risk assessments, prepare risk management plans and initiate appropriate action where indicated (including referrals to relevant secondary care services and child and adult safeguarding services)
  • Ensure that people under your care are cared for appropriately under the stepped care framework as currently in use within the service.

Person Specification
Qualifications
  • Qualification from High Intensity IAPT Course (Post Graduate Diploma).
  • OR
  • Formal training in CBT to at least Postgraduate diploma level.
  • AND
  • BABCP full accreditation
  • AND
  • Significant experience working as a psychological therapy practitioner and demonstrating the competences as required.
Experience
  • Demonstrate experience of working in mental health services (in‑person)
  • Ability to meet agreed/specified service targets
  • Ability to manage own caseload and timeDemonstrates high standards in written communication
  • Able to write clear reports and letters to referrers
  • Experience with routine outcome monitoring
  • Experience of providing CBT supervision
  • Experience of teaching and liaising with other professional groups
  • Experience of step 4 meetings (e.g. liaison meetings) and/or PCN MDT meetings
