Job description

You will lead the development of strategies that shape and transform our Final Mile operating model, ensuring we consistently serve our customers, communities, and the planet better every day. You’ll champion the integration of technology as a critical enabler of our future, embedding it into key business decisions. With an agile and collaborative approach, you’ll define scope and objectives, keep projects aligned with strategic priorities, inspire teams, manage risks, and deliver sustainable, customer-focused outcomes while driving continuous improvement.

Responsibilities
  • Embedding Tesco’s project management principles throughout delivery, ensuring strong stakeholder engagement, clear organisation, and effective budget control and cost optimisation.
  • Defining scope and objectives from the outset to drive clarity, keep projects aligned with strategic priorities, and manage risks, issues, and interdependencies.
  • Inspire and leading teams with purpose, allocating resources effectively and engaging subject matter experts to deliver outstanding results.
  • Establishing robust governance, resolve conflicts, and collaborate with internal and external partners to design and execute clear implementation plans.
  • Monitoring progress rigorously, providing transparent updates to stakeholders and business leaders, while taking ownership of processes and systems to ensure efficiency and simplicity.
  • Championing technology as a key enabler of Tesco’s future, embedding digital thinking into decision‑making and driving improvements that simplify operations and enhance customer experiences.
  • Closing projects with thorough post‑implementation reviews, capturing lessons learned and driving continuous improvement in both delivery and approach.
Qualifications
  • Proven ability to define projects, plan effectively, manage risks, issues, dependencies, and deliver outcomes with robust governance and control.
  • Skilled in managing a complex network of stakeholders, including executive levels, and building strong cross‑functional relationships beyond your function.
  • Experience in budget management, commercial decision‑making, sizing business opportunities, and creating compelling business cases.
  • Project Management or CI qualification (e.g., Six Sigma, APM) and a track record of delivering cross‑functional initiatives from concept to trial and rollout.
  • An inquisitive outlook with the ability to formulate strategies, drive business development, and support corporate growth.
  • Knowledge of supply chain management, logistics, couriers, and experience in contract negotiation and setting service level agreements.
  • Strong capability in progress tracking, transparent reporting, and conducting post‑implementation reviews to drive continuous improvement.
