Job Description
TechChange is looking for a stellar project manager to support a team of 6-8 people (TechChange and our event Partner CRS) with day to day project planning for design and execution of a 4-day hybrid conference of ~500 people to take place in Abuja, Nigeria in April of 2026. This is a part-time, remote role that will need to be flexible for meeting with staff based across the US, European and West Africa timezones for virtual meetings.
There may be opportunity to expand to additional projects.
Responsibilities
Project Management & Communications
- Collaborate with stakeholders to define event objectives, target audiences, and success metrics
- Develop and manage a core project plan with multiple workstreams for event.
- Meticulously keeps project plan up to date and the team informed and responsible for critical deadlines and milestones
- Lead internal event planning meetings providing weekly agenda, status updates, raising risks, and keeping all critical stakeholders and staff informed.
- Schedules, tracks and manages project meetings including notes and action items from meeting discussions
- Partners with Nigeria based Event Manager & Hybrid Event Manager on key project deliverables
- Collaborate and coordinate with TechChange’s Business Development and Marketing team on participant communications.
- Keeps the VP of Partner Success & Delivery (manager) informed of any budget needs or project risks and partners together to problem-solve issues.
Pre-Event System Set Up
- Supports abstract selection process through the set up and management of the abstract platform (to be used by the Agenda review committee)
- Configuration of the online TechChange platform to display agenda (agenda, branding, zoom links etc) making sure speaker information, session descriptions, and times are all up to date
- Coordination of graphic designer needs for abstract platform, event platform and communication emails.
- Coordination of virtual production plan and resources (ie working with our event producer to schedule events and speaker tech checks)
- Speaker management: scheduling and preparing speakers for presentations.
- Managing public facing website (gdhf.digital), including initial upload of Agenda managing rolling updates
- Filling out technical runs of show using materials from the team
- Prepare the technical backend for sessions, including Zoom, Microsoft Teams, Vimeo, and Youtube streaming configuration and quality assurance
- Manage participant registration configuration, communications, and reporting
Attendee Support
- Answering support emails and/or triaging to staff via slack or email
- Developing standard answers guide (with input from staff) for support responses and FAQs
Live-event support for Virtual Programming
- Scheduling & organising team of Technical Moderators to live sessions
- Running Zoom sessions as a “technical moderator,”
- Troubleshooting assistance in Zoom or Vimeo, or escalating to tech team
- Answering participant help desk questions
Role Requirements
- Strong project management skills, able to handle multiple work-streams concurrently.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, essential for stakeholder engagement.
- Experience with configuring and managing online tools (content management systems, event management systems, meeting software or similar)
- Flexibility and adaptability to navigate the dynamic landscape of events.
- Experience with global events management preferred
- Experience or interest in global digital development and ICT4D
