Job description

We are working with a respected UK contractor delivering high-quality, technically complex construction and refurbishment projects, with a focus on live hospital environments. Due to growth, we are recruiting a Project Engineer to support planning, coordination, and delivery of construction and building services projects across the UK.

This role is ideal for candidates with an engineering degree or equivalent, who are looking to develop their career in project engineering and enjoy a mix of office-based project management and hands‑on site coordination. The successful candidate will work closely with the Contract Manager, clients, and subcontractors to ensure safe, compliant, and successful project delivery.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assist in planning and coordinating project delivery activities
  • Undertake site surveys and prepare technical documentation, including drawings, reports, and risk assessments
  • Liaise with clients, subcontractors, and suppliers to maintain progress and resolve technical queries
  • Support commissioning activities, ensuring systems are tested, witnessed, and documented
  • Review design drawings and specifications, identifying conflicts or opportunities for improvement
  • Prepare and maintain project documentation, including RAMS, progress reports, and O&M manuals
  • Ensure compliance with CDM regulations, health and safety policies, and company quality standards
  • Assist with procurement, scheduling, and coordination of materials and subcontractors
  • Contribute to project meetings and provide updates to senior management
  • Support project handover and client demonstrations
Experience & Requirements
  • Degree or HNC/HND in Mechanical, Electrical, Building Services, or Construction Engineering preferred
  • 1-3 years' experience in project engineering, construction management, or commissioning
  • Strong understanding of M&E systems and technical drawings
  • Excellent communication, organisation, and coordination skills
  • Full UK driving licence and willingness to travel to sites nationwide
  • CSCS or equivalent site safety certification desirable
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office and relevant engineering software (e.g., AutoCAD, Revit)
Skills & Knowledge
  • Good understanding of project management processes
  • Knowledge of mechanical and electrical building systems
  • Competent with MS Office; familiarity with AutoCAD or similar design software advantageous
