Overview
Opportunity open to existing Grade 9 / Grade 10 academics currently employed within the Faculty of Engineering and Physical Sciences at the University of Leeds only.
Responsibilities
- Provide the strategic vision and leadership for student education in our large and complex Faculty.
- Collaborate with the Pro-Vice-Chancellor: Student Education and Experience and the Executive Dean of the Faculty to contribute to strategic developments within the University and determine, lead and implement the strategy for student education within the Faculty.
- Develop and lead the Faculty's portfolio of student education programmes and lead on the Faculty's recruitment and educational engagement strategies to deliver the Faculty's learning and teaching strategic objectives and provide a high quality student academic experience.
- Identify and develop opportunities for new initiatives and programmes, foster inter- and intra-Faculty cooperation, and take the lead responsibility for promoting and monitoring teaching quality assurance and enhancement.
- Promote an inclusive approach to education that will attract, excite and retain a diverse student cohort.
- Chair the Faculty Taught Student Education Committee and represent the Faculty on the University's Taught Student Education Board and other University committees, contributing to strategy, policy formulation and implementation.
- Engage as an active member of the University's Leadership Forum and the Faculty Executive Group to promote a coordinated approach to innovative strategic academic development.
- Lead with a clear vision in a busy, dynamic environment, collaborating across the Faculty and the University to enhance the Faculty's reputation with a focus on quality and excellence.
Qualifications and Attributes
- Sustained track record of excellence in student education, research and/or scholarship and academic leadership.
- Academic credibility and excellent skills in teamwork and collaboration.
- Ability to lead complex initiatives and engage others across the Faculty and the University.
