Job description

Autodesk is at the forefront of industry transformation, enhancing flagship products like AutoCAD, Revit, and Forma with cloud-native capabilities, scalable data, edge computing, AI‑driven solutions and advanced visualization. Our Visualization team is central to delivering modern, high‑fidelity experiences across web, mobile and desktop platforms. The Visualization Solutions group, within Autodesk’s AEC (Architecture, Engineering and Construction) platform org, is responsible for intuitive, powerful experiences that help professionals across industries visualize and collaborate effectively on complex projects. As Principal Experience Designer you will work on visualization capabilities and critical in‑product workflows that enable users to review models, manage design workflows and project processes and make informed decisions across web and mobile platforms. You will champion evidence‑based design, influence product strategy and lead design excellence while mentoring early‑to‑mid‑career designers and keeping the team focused on high‑value features. The role is based in the UK and can be predominantly remote; proximity to the engineering teams in Sheffield is a plus.

Responsibilities
  • Drive UX strategy and execution for the Visualization space, ensuring an intuitive and delightful experience.
  • Influence product strategy and share design rationale through storytelling, presentations, and iterative artefacts, inspiring alignment.
  • Collaborate cross‑functionally with designers, product managers and engineers within your product area and across the AEC group.
  • Champion evidence‑based design by partnering with UX Research and using analytics to uncover insights that shape design strategy and the product roadmap.
  • Empower your team to prioritise features that deliver maximum value to users, balancing business and user goals.
  • Become a subject‑matter expert in the visualization domain and lead design strategy, shaping the roadmap with a strong design perspective.
  • Mentor and coach early‑to‑mid‑career designers, fostering growth and design excellence.
  • Guide and participate in design critiques, maintaining high standards and consistency in design solutions.
  • Stay ahead of emerging technologies, including AI‑driven design tools and workflows, to innovate and future‑proof the user experience.
Qualifications
  • 5‑7 years of UX design experience working as a UX designer.
  • Previous experience working on SaaS products.
  • Excellent communication and storytelling skills.
  • Experience with industry‑standard tools like Figma, and experience designing for complex creative applications, 3D tools, gaming or visualization platforms.
  • Deep understanding of AEC workflows and Autodesk tools such as Revit, AutoCAD and Forma.
  • Hands‑on experience with 3D geometry workflows and visualization challenges.
  • Exposure to AR/VR or immersive design techniques.
  • Demonstrated ability to influence product and design strategy.
  • Familiarity with AI‑powered design tools or workflows and an interest in leveraging emerging technologies.

Salary is one part of Autodesk’s competitive compensation package. Offers are based on the candidate's experience and geographic location.
