Communities and Skills is led by Executive Director, Tunde Olayinka and is comprised of the units: Civil Society & Sport, Communities & Social Policy, Group Public Health Unit, Skills and Employment and Health, Children and Young Londoners.

About The Role

The Greater London Authority are looking to recruit a permanent PMO Manager. You will be working in the Communities and Skills Directorate, as part of the Performance and Improvement function, ensuring an effective, centralised PMO supports the directorate. The PMO Manager will be responsible for overseeing the governance, processes, and reporting for multiple programmes across the directorate.

Responsibilities
  • Overseeing the development and delivery of the PMO infrastructure for the Communities and Skills directorate.
  • Supporting the establishment and operations of the internal governance structure.
  • Support and oversee the performance tracking and reporting to relevant mayoral boards.
  • Coordinate programme co-ordinators/PMO leads who sit within teams across C&S to support delivery of mandated programmes.
  • Connect with PMO leads across other Mandates and communities of practice to ensure alignment and sharing of good practice.
  • For all programmes, work with programme co-ordinators to ensure proactive management, monitoring, verification, recording, analysis and reporting of programme.
Skills, knowledge and experience

To be considered for the role you must meet the following essential criteria:

  • A degree or professional qualification in portfolio, programme or project management or in management of project/Programme management office (PMO) or related subjects preferably to post graduate level or equivalent experience.
  • Evidence of well-developed IT skills, solid experience of using financial management systems and portfolio/programme/project (PPM) software, and excellent report writing skills.
  • A thorough knowledge of programme and project management and control techniques.
  • Strong analytical and written skills.

This role is based at London Fire Brigades Head Office (Union Street SE1 0LL).

Assessment process

Benefits

GLA staff are hybrid working up to 3 days a week in offices and remotely depending on role. You will need to split your time between home working and coming into the office. In addition to a good salary package, you will be paid every four weeks.
