We are seeking a Deputy Administration Manager to join a pensions administration team, delivering high-quality services to trust-based defined benefit (DB) pension schemes. This role combines technical expertise with leadership and client-focused service, supporting the efficient management of scheme-based administration.

About the role

  • Lead and oversee annual/ad-hoc pension projects (e.g. renewals, benefit statements, increases)
  • Review and monitor work quality, accuracy, and SLA compliance across the team
  • Support performance management through appraisals, mentoring, and workflow oversight
  • Maintain client relationships and ensure service delivery aligns with legislative standards
  • Prepare and issue billing, manage internal schedules, and maintain compliance logs
  • Deputise for Administration Managers and contribute to strategic meetings

About you

  • Expert knowledge of DB pensions administration (leavers, retirements, transfers, deaths)
  • Strong understanding of pensions legislation and regulatory frameworks
  • Proven experience in team supervision, performance monitoring, and workflow management
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint)
  • Strong numerical aptitude and effective management skills
  • Experience in third-party pensions administration or non-process-driven in-house roles
  • Presentation skills for client pitches and trustee meetings
  • Commercial awareness and business insight
  • Minimum grade B/6 in Maths and English GCSE (or equivalent)
