Job Overview

High-quality, accurate payroll and pension services are essential to our success as an employer and our standing as an NHS Trust. We are looking for an enthusiastic, adaptable and organised Payroll Support Officer to join our professional team at Manchester University NHS Foundation Trust.


Key Responsibilities


  • Organise and prioritise your own workload.

  • Update the Payroll System (ESR) through the accurate and timely interpretation of documentation received.

  • Deal with a range of stakeholders to provide guidance and training.

  • Continuously develop your own knowledge and skills to enhance performance.

  • Troubleshoot issues and find ways to improve the service with strong customer‑service skills and experience dealing with difficult situations.

  • Communicate effectively both in person and in writing with good planning and organisational skills.

  • Remain calm under pressure and work unsupervised.


This is a demanding and busy role. The successful candidate must demonstrate the Trust Values and standards of behaviour expected by the organisation and must meet the responsibilities of the job description and person specification.
