Summary

The University is looking to recruit an experienced Payroll Assistant, on a full-time basis to work as part of a busy payroll team. The post holder will work on the payroll bureau team (TUpay) and will manage their own portfolio of clients processing their payrolls from start to finish using the Sage payroll system.

Experience of the Sage payroll system would be an advantage for this post but is not essential.

TUpay is a commercial bureau that offers a payroll and pension service to education establishments nationwide. Experience of education payrolls, Local Government Pension Scheme (LGPS) and Teacher Pension Scheme (TPS) would be an advantage but is not essential.

All candidates are expected to have a good understanding of UK payroll legislation and calculations, including National Insurance contributions, PAYE tax, and pensions in relation to payroll queries.

You will have excellent communication and Excel skills, able to work on your own initiative, accurately, flexibly and under pressure to achieve the required deadlines.

You must have a GCSE or equivalent in English Language and Maths along with experience in the use of payroll systems and MS Office applications (Excel, Word and Outlook).
