A regional healthcare provider is seeking a motivated Specimen Reception and Transport Lead at their Tees Valley location. This role involves managing the pre-analytical service and working cross-site. Candidates should possess an IBMS accredited degree, HCPC registration, and demonstrate advanced laboratory knowledge. The post offers a competitive salary within the Band 7 pay scale.
Job summary. The Pathology departments at North Tees and Hartlepool (NTH) and South Tees Hospitals (STH) are developing Tees Valley Pathology with cross-site working. This post will require cross-site working and is for a motivated Specimen Reception and Transport Lead to support the Pathology Support Services Manager and lead the development of a high quality pre-analytical service across pathology. The post holder will work with the Pathology Support Service Manager, Lead BMS and Operational Leads for the management and strategic development of the central specimen reception and logistics teams, supporting the pre-analytical service within pathology.
The post holder will liaise closely with senior staff to support the pre-analytics and quality aspects of sample processing across Pathology from a staff, IT and technology perspective. They will have in depth knowledge of pathology departments and be involved in directing improvement and development within the service areas. Using quality informatics, the post holder will provide solutions to support sample management across pathology, ensuring timely sample analysis and minimising adverse effects on the interpretation of patient results. They are expected to participate, as appropriate, in regional and national groups to develop guidelines and support development of Pathology provision across the wider NHS.
South Tees Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust offers leadership and improvement training to all new staff. The training programme supports leaders in developing their understanding of leadership and management skills. You will be expected to attend the leadership development programme and the Quality Improvement Programme delivered by the Trust. The programme aims to explore leadership within the NHS, promote Trust values and behaviours, develop leadership effectiveness and skills, and provide a practitioner level in quality improvement to champion and lead quality improvement within your role. After completing this four and a half days of training you will be able to explore further leadership and improvement training opportunities, with in-house courses and bite-sized programmes; leadership apprenticeships at levels 3, 5 and 7 may be offered dependent on role.
