Overview

Reporting to the Centre Manager, the postholder will support the Centre Director and Principal Investigators (PIs) holding grants. The postholder will also process day-to-day financial transactions in accordance with the University's financial regulations, in close consultation with the finance team at the Faculty of Law. The post involves contact with a wide variety of people, within the Centre, the Faculty and externally, requiring frequent communication and opportunities for collaborative work.

Responsibilities
  • Support the Centre Director and Principal Investigators (PIs) holding grants, reporting to the Centre Manager.
  • Process day-to-day financial transactions in accordance with the University's financial regulations, in close consultation with the finance team at the Faculty of Law.
  • Engage with a wide variety of people within the Centre, the Faculty and externally, requiring frequent communication and opportunities for collaborative work.
Qualifications
  • Proven experience of research grants administration, or equivalent administrative experience.
  • Ability to understand a range of funder rules and University financial requirements, apply them accurately, and convey them to colleagues effectively.
  • Proven experience of financial administration within a complex organisation, with evidence of high numeracy (ideally grade 6 or above at GCSE Mathematics, or equivalent).
  • Demonstrable skills in summarising, analysing and understanding financial data, able to identify anomalies and produce accurate work, even under pressure.
  • Excellent IT skills including the ability to manipulate and present complex data using spreadsheets, and the ability to communicate effectively in person and online with people in a variety of roles, occasionally working in different time zones.
  • Experience of UKRI and/or European research administration and completion of an AAT or similar accounting course is desirable.
