Job Title: Overhead Line Design Engineer
Location: UK-wide/Hybrid/Site-based (as required)
Contract Type: Permanent
Reports to: Senior Design Engineer

Are you an experienced Overhead Line (OHL) Design Engineer looking for your next challenge? This is an exciting opportunity to deliver safe, efficient, and compliant OHL designs for transmission and distribution projects across the UK, typically ranging from 132kV to 400kV. You'll work on technically complex projects, ensuring designs align with client specifications, national standards, and statutory regulations.

Key Responsibilities:

• Prepare detailed design packages for overhead line systems, including route alignment, tower/pole configuration, conductor selection, and foundations.
• Carry out structural analysis and loading calculations using PLS-CADD, PLS-TOWER, or equivalent software.
• Ensure compliance with applicable standards (eg, National Grid TS, ENA TS, BS EN, CDM regulations).
• Support planning and consenting processes by providing route feasibility studies and technical input.
• Collaborate with stakeholders, including DNOs, National Grid, civil teams, and environmental consultants.
• Provide technical support during construction, commissioning, and handover phases.
• Review subcontractor or third-party designs for compliance and constructability.

Experience and Certifications required:

• Proven experience delivering OHL designs on transmission/distribution projects (132kV-400kV).
• Proficiency in PLS-CADD, PLS-TOWER, or equivalent design software.
• Strong knowledge of National Grid, ENA TS, and BS EN standards.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
