Overview

Applications are warmly welcomed for a 12-month, fixed-term post of Clinical Fellow in Medical Retina and Uveitis at BEH with a projected start date in January 2026. The position offers a platform for sub-specialist training in medical retina services, uveitis, and general ophthalmology care for patients at BEH and Weston General Hospital (WGH).

BEH is a regional Centre for Ophthalmology with a tertiary retina service, a strong Clinical Research Unit, and a modern Retinal Unit Outpatients Department. Involvement in clinical research trials is encouraged to promote professional growth and contribute to advancements in the field.

Responsibilities
  • Provide a 12-month, fixed-term Clinical Fellow role in Medical Retina and Uveitis at BEH with a start date around January 2026.
  • Deliver sub-specialist training in medical retina services, uveitis, and general ophthalmology care for patients at BEH and WGH.
  • Work within BEH’s integrated medical retina, uveitis, and vitreo-retinal service, collaborating with the Clinical Research Unit.
  • Engage with high-volume and high-pressure ophthalmology clinics and contribute to ongoing clinical services development.
  • Participate in and support clinical research trials to promote professional growth and advances in ophthalmology.
Qualifications
  • Applicants should have completed their higher surgical training in the UK or hold an equivalent qualification.
  • Experience in medical retina is preferred, with unsupervised retinal laser experience and intravitreal injections advantageous.
