Job Overview
Serco has an exciting opportunity for a Mechanical Technician to join our team based in University Hospital South Bucks. This role will be to provide safe and efficient maintenance of the mechanical services and equipment within the hospital as directed by Estates Supervisors and Management.
Responsibilities
- Carry out reactive repairs, fault finding, servicing, commissioning and maintenance to a wide range of Services, Plant and Equipment within all areas of the Hospital as directed by Supervisors or Managers.
- Carry out Planned Preventive Maintenance to a wide range of Plant and Equipment.
- Work in accordance with all relevant Serco Policies & Procedures, Work Place Regulations and Best Practice Guidelines.
- Take a proactive approach to the development and review of Health & Safety systems, work instructions and working practices.
- Work in a safe and responsible manner with full regard for own and other's safety at all times.
- Attend work in compliance with the Computerised Time & Attendance System.
- Use Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) as required.
- Be prepared to attend work or work beyond expected finishing time in exceptional circumstances, as requested by Supervisors or Managers.
- Communicate to Supervisors or Managers unrepaired faults or defects or requirements Spare Parts.
- Attend on-site and off-site training as required.
- Be aware of how the Technician Role influences Serco's Contract and the wider company objectives.
- Be prepared to take on Authorised Person Duties which could include but not limited to Pressure systems, Legionella RP, Ventilation, Medical Gas (All training will be provided).
- Requirement to work Monday – Friday to cover on site operational hours of 08:00 – 17:00.
- Be part of an on-call rota from 17:00 – 08:00 outside normal operating hours.
Qualifications
- Completion of a recognised appropriate Mechanical Apprenticeship or other relevant structured Training Program.
- Appropriate City & Guilds and/or BTEC certification.
- Proven experience of working in a similar environment.
- Knowledge and understanding of Mechanical Building Services.
- Good communication and customer service skills, Disability Confident.
Working Hours
Full time – 37.5 hours per week. Monday – Friday, 08:00 – 16:00 hours.
On call rota 1 in 5.
