Job description

Engineering @365 is working with a well-established designer and manufacturer of bespoke mechanical handling and automation systems, providing end-to-end design, manufacturing, and installation services across a range of industrial and commercial sectors. The company is now seeking a Mechanical Fitter to support its growing production and installation teams.

About the role:

As a Mechanical Fitter, you'll play a vital part in the assembly, installation, and commissioning of bespoke conveying and automation equipment. Working both in the workshop and on customer sites, you'll build complex mechanical systems, carry out mechanical fitting to high standards, and ensure equipment is installed safely and accurately.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Assemble mechanical machinery, sub-assemblies, and components from detailed engineering drawings.
  • Carry out precise mechanical fitting, alignment, and adjustment of equipment.
  • Install conveying and automation systems on customer sites, including mechanical assembly and integration.
  • Perform fault‑finding, testing, and commissioning support during project delivery.
  • Work closely with design and production teams to resolve build issues and ensure manufacturability.
  • Assist in loading, unloading, and preparing equipment for dispatch.
  • Follow all health and safety procedures to maintain a safe working environment both in the workshop and on‑site.
What we're looking for:
  • Previous experience as a Mechanical Fitter, preferably within automation, machinery, or material handling equipment.
  • Ability to read and interpret mechanical engineering drawings and assembly instructions.
  • Strong mechanical assembly skills including use of hand tools, power tools, and precision measuring equipment.
  • Experience with pneumatics or mechanical drives would be beneficial.
  • Flexible to travel and work on customer sites when required.
