Job description
Inspire Futures: Mathematics Teacher in Woking

Are you a passionate and adaptable Mathematics Teacher looking to make a profound difference in the lives of young people? We are seeking a dedicated Mathematics Specialist to join our independent specialist school in Woking, providing high-quality, therapeutic, and child-centered education for pupils aged 11 to 17.

Our students come from diverse backgrounds, all with Social, Emotional, and Mental Health (SEMH) needs, and many also have other Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND) such as Autism, ADHD, and communication difficulties. Our work is both varied and challenging, and as a trauma and attachment-informed organization, all staff receive extensive therapeutic training and support. Our closely triangulated approach places the child at the center, ensuring collaborative efforts among education and therapy professionals, parents/carers, local authorities, and, most importantly, our students.

The Role: Beyond Subject Teaching

At our school, we are first and foremost teachers of children before we are teachers of subjects. Central to this role is building strong, nurturing, and positive relationships with students, truly getting to know each child, and motivating them to achieve their full potential.

As our Mathematics Specialist, you'll be responsible for teaching a curriculum that spans Entry Level, Functional Skills, Key Stage 3, and GCSE. You'll be supported by national subject champions who will empower you to become an expert in facilitating learning for the children you know best.

We are looking for teachers who can inspire a sense of awe and wonder, making Maths real and relevant to our students. You'll plan exciting and engaging learning opportunities that challenge and push every student, whether they're grasping the basics or possess a special talent for the subject. Our children require very special teachers who can navigate complex and challenging behaviors. You'll understand that our students thrive with ample attention, precise communication, unwavering consistency, thoughtful flexibility, and a non-judgmental approach.

We actively encourage our teachers to be part of the decision-making processes that drive our school, enhance student outcomes, and advocate for every child. We welcome your input in developing both the academic curriculum and our extra-curricular offerings, inviting you to bring your own interests and passions to enrich our students' experiences.

Benefits and Rewards

Joining our team means becoming part of a supportive and growing organization that truly values its staff. We invest in our teachers, recognizing skill, effort, and potential.

We offer:

  • Extensive training and professional qualification opportunities.
  • Small class sizes with specialist Teaching Assistant support.
  • The chance to be part of an expanding national organization that actively grows its own leadership teams.
  • An enhanced occupational sickness scheme.
  • Regular therapeutic and supportive supervision.
  • A life assurance scheme.
  • Dedicated engagement and retention budgets for every staff member.
  • Cashback for various medical appointments and treatments, including optical and dental, with MediCash.
  • The opportunity to win up to £150 per month in our REACH awards.
  • Generous service awards: £200 (2 years), £400 (5 years), and £600 (10 years), plus up to a £500 special recognition award for outstanding practice.
  • Salary sacrifice schemes, including childcare vouchers, technology, and cycle to work.

We regularly review applications and reserve the right to close this advert early if we identify suitable candidates.
