About the Role

This role is ideal for candidates with strong manual machining experience. Time-served backgrounds are preferred but not essential for individuals with suitable hands‑on capability.

Key Responsibilities
  • Machining large, complex cast components to detailed engineering drawings and specified tolerances.
  • Ensuring production targets and timeframes are met.
  • Working a mixture of day and nights.
  • Conducting visual inspections to ensure quality and accuracy of machined parts.
  • Setting and operating a range of manual machines including lathes and vertical borers.
  • Marking and identifying materials correctly during the machining process.
  • Working collaboratively as part of a team while maintaining the ability to work with minimal supervision.
  • Following all company health & safety procedures and maintaining a safe working environment.
Skills & Experience Required
  • Experience within a similar role, or within a manufacturing or engineering environment.
  • Strong ability to read, understand and interpret engineering drawings.
  • Competent in working to tight tolerances and using precision measuring equipment.
  • High attention to detail and a commitment to quality.
  • Ability to work under pressure and meet challenging deadlines.
  • Comfortable working independently or as part of a wider team.
  • Flexibility with working hours, including overtime and shift patterns.
  • Good understanding of health & safety, environmental standards and quality systems.
  • Effective communication skills, both written and verbal.

Salary

£15.50 - £19.30 per hour, depending on experience.
