Overview

Management Accountant – Newport | £38,000 - £40,000 | Permanent | Hybrid

Acorn by Synergie is recruiting a highly motivated Management Accountant to join our clients finance team in Newport. This is a permanent, hybrid role and an excellent opportunity for a qualified finance professional looking to progress their career in a supportive and dynamic environment.

Responsibilities
  • Produce accurate and timely management accounts, with a focus on improving the value and insight of financial reporting.
  • Post journals accurately, ensuring all supporting documentation is properly maintained.
  • Maintain and manage the fixed asset register.
  • Prepare weekly payment runs and manage cash flow effectively.
  • Complete balance sheet reconciliations and ensure accounts are accurate and up to date.
  • Conduct cost analysis and provide meaningful insights to stakeholders.
  • Prepare performance reports and commentary, highlighting variances against budgets and forecasts.
  • Monitor and evaluate financial systems, suggesting improvements to increase efficiency.
  • Support statutory reporting requirements, including quarterly VAT returns, ECSL, international tax returns, and ONS surveys.
  • Act as an escalation point for queries from the Finance Assistants (team of 2).
  • Assist with year-end audit preparation and delivery.
  • Provide ad hoc financial support to wider business teams and projects as required.
Requirements
  • Fully qualified ACCA / CIMA / ICAEW.
  • Strong knowledge of Microsoft Office, with excellent Excel skills.
  • High level of attention to detail with a focus on producing work to a consistently high standard.
  • Effective time management and prioritisation skills; able to meet monthly deadlines.
  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to build and maintain relationships across all levels of the business.
