Job summary

A leading recruitment firm is seeking a Maintenance Team Member/Technician to support the service and repair of rolling stock at their Wolverhampton depot. The role requires proven experience in a mechanical or electrical engineering environment and an NVQ Level 3 qualification or equivalent. You will work as part of a dedicated team to maintain the fleet efficiently and safely. This contract lasts 6 months with shift work involved, offering an hourly rate between £24.20 - £37.00 based on payment option.

Job description
Maintenance Team Member / Technician, Rolling Stock

Rullion is offering an exciting opportunity for a qualified mechanical fitter to become part of an established rolling stock company based out of Oxley, Wolverhampton. You will play a pivotal role as part of the maintenance team dedicated to a High‑Speed locomotive fleet.

This role falls inside of IR35 and therefore payment options are either PAYE or Umbrella:

Contract: 6 month rolling

Hourly rate: £30.89‑£37.00 (Umbrella) / £24.20‑£27.47 (PAYE).

Shift work, early and late turns. These rotate over a 9 week schedule.

  • Early - 06.00 to 14.00
  • Early - 06.00 to 18.00
  • Late - 12.30 to 20.00
  • Late - 19.30 to 06.00
Principal Accountabilities

To undertake service and repair of the depot rolling stock and associated equipment in support of the operation of the depot.

  • Servicing, maintaining and repair of the overhaul fleet locomotives, coaching stock, and equipment.
  • Ensuring that the fleet is serviced and maintained in a safe, efficient and cost‑effective manner.
  • Seeking to improve quality.
  • Operate as a member of a work team, as the role of that work team requires.
  • Maintain good housekeeping within the working area.
  • Undertake any other duties as and when required within the scope of the modification work.
Knowledge & Experience
  • Proven experience working in a Mechanical or Electrical engineering environment
  • Mechanical or Electrical qualification at NVQ Level 3 (or equivalent)
  • Ability to work effectively as part of a multi‑disciplinary team
  • Strong problem‑solving abilities with a proactive approach
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
  • Capable of working independently and using own initiative when required
  • Sound judgement with confident decision‑making skills
  • Ability to accurately complete all documentation, records, and operational reports in line with procedures
