Job summary

A legal recruitment agency is looking for a Locum Commercial Contracts and Procurement Lawyer to provide advice and draft agreements for Local Authority operations. This remote working role requires a qualified legal professional with substantial experience in commercial contracts and procurement law, offering £60 per hour for an initial 6-month duration.

Qualifications

  • Substantial experience in drafting and advising on commercial contracts, ideally within the public sector.
  • Strong knowledge of procurement law and the Public Contracts Regulations.
  • Exposure to construction contract drafting/advice is desirable but not essential.

  • Draft and negotiate a wide variety of commercial agreements relevant to Local Authority operations.
  • Provide clear, accurate and timely advice on procurement law, including tender documentation and contract award procedures.

Locum Commercial Contracts and Procurement Lawyer – Local Authority – £60 per hour umbrella – Remote Working – Initial 6 months

The Role
  • Position: Locum Commercial Contracts and Procurement Lawyer
  • Rate: £60 per hour umbrella
  • Duration: Initial 6 months with the likelihood of extension
  • Location: Remote working, occasional office presence preferred but not essential
  • Hours: Full Time preferred however part-time applicants will be considered
Key Responsibilities
  • Draft and negotiate a wide variety of commercial agreements relevant to Local Authority operations
  • Provide clear, accurate and timely advice on procurement law, including tender documentation and contract award procedures
  • Deliver practical, solution-focused advice to a range of internal stakeholders
  • Support on construction contract drafting and related issues (a minority of the caseload)
About You
  • Qualified Solicitor, Barrister or Legal Executive with a current practising certificate
  • Substantial experience in drafting and advising on commercial contracts, ideally within the public sector
  • Strong knowledge of procurement law and the Public Contracts Regulations
  • Confident in providing pragmatic advice in a fast-paced environment
  • Exposure to construction contract drafting/advice is desirable but not essential
