Overview

Lighthouse Maintenance Engineer – Permanent – St Just – £37,768.00 - £43,008.00 per annum – 37 hours per week

We are looking for a dedicated individual to join our field operations team. This is a rare and exciting opportunity to play a key role in maintaining the UK's vital maritime safety assets while working alongside experienced engineers, technicians, and maritime professionals.


What You'll Do
  • Maintenance. Responsible for carrying out technical tasks in support to the Field Operations team traveling to many seaside and offshore locations working on Navigation Aids and support systems at lighthouses, cottages and associated buildings and structures.
  • Carry out inspections, and maintenance regimes: You will be responsible for ensuring the Maintenance Management Information System we use (MMIS) is kept up to date, this system can then be utilised to plan upcoming works with the team. The MMIS is to be updated with both completed tasks and new works required to ensure the lighthouses are kept fully operational at all times.
  • Manage records, supplies, and stores: As well as reporting necessary works, you will be expected to use our MMIS to document inspection results and maintain an inventory of equipment and supplies required on-station.
  • Site Supervision and Installation Works: Once at a competent level within the team you will have opportunity to be responsible for supervising on-site installations of new equipment and technology from supporting departments within the corporation, organising other team members and contractors work and carrying out technical tasks in support of the team.
  • Work with helicopters, large ships, and local boats: Trinity House utilises the helicopters and three ships, as well as local boats to carry out its work. You will have the opportunity to plan travel onboard and work alongside all of them.
  • Travel and explore: From rugged coastal sites to isolated offshore lighthouses, you will visit some of the most breathtaking locations in the country. Bear in mind that extended time away from home is a key aspect of this role. You will however be compensated accordingly.
  • Gain valuable training and qualifications in a wide variety of engineering, maritime operations, and health & safety disciplines.

  • A good level of experience in a technical maintenance/installation role.

  • Knowledge of Health & Safety regulations and Electricity at Work regulations desirable.

Qualifications
  • A level 3 qualification in a relevant electronic based discipline or suitable experience.
  • Full driving licence.
