Position Overview – Legal Counsel

An opportunity now exists for a commercial lawyer to join the Liberty legal team. In this role, you will provide legal advice and support for the Liberty business across a wide range of legal and commercial matters. You will work with the General Counsel in implementing legal and strategic priorities for Liberty as well as having responsibility for progressing your own matters and projects.

Responsibilities

You will review, draft and negotiate a wide range of commercial agreements including retail and concession agreements, services agreements and licensing agreements. You will also provide support on the protection and commercialisation of IP as well as data privacy, marketing, tech and digital matters.

Business Partnering

You will have the opportunity to work directly with the business and build effective and constructive relationships across all divisions of Liberty, working collaboratively to deliver on business priorities. You will also be involved with the company’s commitment to CSR and assist in managing this from a legal perspective.

The opportunity will best suit a commercially focussed lawyer with pragmatic and hands on commercial legal experience who will appreciate these values and who can contribute to the aspirations of the brand and what it offers its global customer base.

Commercial legal experience in a retail or consumer context is ideal, with any IP experience being certainly useful but not essential. The ability to handle a varied workload as well as work both as part of a team and independently is key. As a true business partner, strong communication skills are also important, as is a flexible and positive attitude to work. Good drafting and negotiation skills will also be critical.

Minimum Qualifications

• Qualified solicitor in England & Wales or a Commonwealth country;
• Minimum of 1 years’ post-qualification experience;
• Solid academic background;
• Some experience of working in an in-house legal environment;
• Exposure to a range of commercial legal work.
