Job description

An exciting opportunity has presented itself for an experienced Pharmacy Technician to develop their skills in this cross-campus, operational role. We are seeking a Training & Development Lead Pharmacy Technician to cover a 9-month secondment and join our busy Pharmacy dispensary service at Nottingham University Hospitals NHS Trust.

Joining a group of Lead Technicians, the role supports the Chief Technician to ensure the delivery of a safe and high-quality Pharmacy Dispensary service. The post involves working across sites within the Lead Technician group to manage daily operations and lead training and assessment for Pharmacy Dispensary staff to ensure high standards of service.

This role offers a great opportunity to enhance training delivery and leadership skills within a busy acute hospital Pharmacy setting.

Main Responsibilities:
  1. Support staff training, planned assessments, and validations, collaborating with the Pharmacy Education and Training team.
  2. Ensure Pharmacy Dispensary-specific staff induction and training programs are in place.
  3. Support day-to-day management and coordination of the Pharmacy Dispensary service, including staffing planning to ensure appropriate skill-mix and service continuity.
  4. Participate in dispensing and accuracy checking, including handling oral cytotoxics and controlled drugs safely.
  5. Assist in monitoring service Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) to ensure quality, effectiveness, and efficiency.
  6. Review service standards and implement improvements through project work.
  7. Conduct annual performance reviews and support staff in setting objectives and training needs.
  8. Assist in managing staff absences in accordance with Trust Wellbeing and Attendance policies.
  9. Participate in recruitment and selection of Pharmacy Dispensary staff.
