Qualifications

Overview

We're looking for an experienced Lead Senior Authorised Person (SAP) to join a highly skilled engineering team at a specialist COMAH facility in South Manchester. This role offers an exciting opportunity to take ownership of safety systems, isolations, and maintenance planning within a high-hazard environment, with a clear development path and excellent benefits.

The Role
  • Lead the preparation and isolation of plant and equipment for maintenance (including high-pressure gas systems and 33kV electrical systems).
  • Produce and issue safety documentation, ensuring compliance with Safe System of Work (SSOW) standards.
  • Manage the permit office and maintain the site''s safety management systems.
  • Support and influence the maintenance plan, engaging closely with engineering and production teams.
  • Deliver training and guidance to colleagues, promoting a strong safety culture.
What We''re Looking For
  • Proven experience working with Safe Systems of Work in a high-hazard or COMAH environment.
  • Ability to read and interpret P&IDs, instrument loop diagrams, and electrical drawings.
  • Strong planning, organisational, and communication skills.
  • Methodical, detail-focused approach and confidence to challenge established practices constructively.
  • Flexible attitude to working hours, with occasional early starts, late finishes, and weekend work.

Desirable:

  • Electrical or control/instrumentation trade background.
  • Experience with isolating electrical systems and reading electrical diagrams.
  • Previous experience issuing safety documentation.
  • Familiarity with SAP PM/Merlin or other maintenance management systems.
  • Experience in oil & gas, petrochemical, or similar industries.
