Job description
Job Overview

You will lead a small Key Stage 3 nurture class, delivering a broad, balanced curriculum tailored to individual EHCPs while promoting life skills, emotional regulation, communication and independence. You will work within a multidisciplinary team – speech and language therapists, occupational therapists, behaviour analysts and pastoral staff – to remove barriers to learning and ensure every pupil feels valued and supported.

Key Responsibilities
  • Plan and deliver engaging, differentiated lessons tailored to individual EHCPs.
  • Create a safe, structured, and nurturing learning environment.
  • Promote pupil wellbeing, confidence and emotional development alongside academic progress.
  • Use a range of teaching strategies and assistive technologies to meet individual needs.
  • Monitor, assess and report on pupil progress using school systems.
  • Work closely with parents, carers and external professionals to provide holistic support.
  • Participate in staff meetings, CPD and other school events.
  • Maintain accurate records of behaviour, incidents and pupil progress.
  • Contribute to curriculum planning and policy development as required.
Qualifications
  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent.
  • Experience teaching pupils with autism or learning difficulties.
  • Strong classroom management and behaviour regulation skills.
  • Ability to plan and adapt lessons for a range of learning styles and abilities.
  • Excellent communication, teamwork and organisational skills.
  • A reflective, proactive and solution‑focused approach.
Desirable
  • Knowledge of TEACCH, PECS, SCERTS or similar frameworks.
  • Experience in specialist or alternative provision settings.
  • Understanding of trauma‑informed practice and positive behaviour support.
  • Ability to deliver a nurture‑based curriculum and contribute to social/emotional learning.
  • Familiarity with EHCP processes and statutory reporting.
Salary & Benefits

Salary: £39,000 – £46,000 per annum, dependent on experience (not pro‑rata).

Hours: 37.5 hours per week (Monday to Friday, 8:30am – 4:30pm).

Contract: Permanent – Term Time Only. Start: December 2025. (UK applicants only; no sponsorship.)
