The Position

Advances in AI, data, and computational sciences are transforming drug discovery and development. Roche’s Research and Early Development organizations at Genentech (gRED) and Pharma (pRED) have demonstrated how these technologies accelerate R&D, leveraging data and novel computational models to drive impact. Seamless data sharing and access to models across gRED and pRED are essential to maximising these opportunities. The new computational sciences Center of Excellence (CoE) is a strategic, unified group whose goal is to harness this transformative power of data and Artificial Intelligence (AI) to assist our scientists in both pRED and gRED to deliver more innovative and transformative medicines for patients worldwide.

Within the CoE organisation, the Data and Digital Catalyst organisation drives the modernisation of our computational and data ecosystems and integration of digital technologies across Research and Early Development to enable our stakeholders, power data-driven science and accelerate decision-making.

Join the newly formed Computational Sciences Center of Excellence (CoE) as an Information Compliance Expert, a key role within our Data Connectivity team. You will serve as the leading authority on information compliance, translating complex external regulations and internal policies into actionable guidance for our Research and Early Development (REDs) organizations. This is a unique opportunity to act as a strategic advisor, leveraging your deep expertise to solve challenging data handling cases, co-design corporate policies, and ensure that our scientific data is managed in a responsible and compliant manner, directly mitigating organizational risk and enabling data-driven science.

As our Principal Information Compliance Expert, you will:

• Act as the primary subject matter expert on information compliance, providing authoritative advice and guidance on complex data handling issues to business and scientific stakeholders.
• Monitor, interpret, and assess the impact of new and changing local and international regulations on company operations in collaboration with Group Legal.
• Translate complex compliance requirements into clear, actionable best practices, guidance, and Q&A entries for the REDs community.
• Co-design and influence corporate policies by representing the REDs in compliance networks such as the Confidentiality Working Group and Trade Secrets Committee.
• Serve as the key pRED and gRED resource for Information Compliance Lead (ICL) activities, ensuring alignment across the REDs and with global standards.
• Develop and provide advanced training materials to upskill our scientists and make them more data-savvy.
• Identify compliance risks and develop effective mitigation strategies to prevent non-compliance with Roche policies and external laws.

Who You Are:

• You hold a Master’s degree or higher in a scientific or technical field.
• Experience in Data Governance, Information Compliance, Regulatory Affairs, or Risk Management within the pharmaceutical or other regulated industry.
• You possess deep expertise in one or more specific compliance areas (e.g., data privacy, trade secrets, data lifecycle management) and understand the compliance expert landscape within a large organization.
• You have a proven ability to analyze complex compliance issues and understand their direct impact on business and R&D operations.
• You are an exceptional communicator with strong networking capabilities, able to build relationships and lead effectively in a matrixed organization.
• You have experience working within a Research & Development organization and have a deep understanding of its processes and data handling activities.
