Job description
Overview

As a Housing Engagement Worker, you'll work directly with young people and their hosts to provide tailored support, helping residents develop essential life skills and move towards independent living. You'll also play a key role in supporting the recruitment and development of Supported Lodgings Providers, ensuring they feel confident and equipped to offer high-quality care.

Responsibilities
  • Support young people through personalised support plans and life skills development
  • Facilitate referrals, assessments, inductions and move-on planning
  • Promote positive activities and co-production opportunities
  • Help young people understand their rights and responsibilities in housing
  • Assist in recruiting and supporting Supported Lodgings Providers
  • Work closely with external agencies to ensure holistic support
  • Be based at YMCA My Place Hostel alongside the Norwich Community Housing team and participate in a rota of shifts covering core hours 9.00am – 7.00pm, Monday – Saturday, over 365 days of the year, generally totaling 22.5 hours per week across 3 days
Qualifications
  • Experience working in housing or support services with vulnerable young people
  • Strong communication skills and emotional resilience
  • Ability to carry out needs and risk assessments and support planning
  • Knowledge of housing legislation and safeguarding frameworks
  • A full UK driving licence with access to transport
  • A commitment to YMCA Norfolk's inclusive and values-led approach
  • Written references will be obtained for the successful candidate covering the previous 5 years of employment; the offer is subject to satisfactory references (two references typically required; character references may be sought where applicable)
