Qualifications

  • Degree-qualified in Civil Engineering or HND/HNC equivalent.
  • Strong understanding of highways specifications, drawings, and construction methodology.
  • Experience with setting out, quality control, and site documentation.
  • A proactive approach to health, safety, and environmental management.

Site Engineer - Liverpool

If you're a Senior Engineer who enjoys being close to the work, influencing how schemes are built, and seeing your decisions delivered on site, this role gives you real ownership. You'll be working on a major highways framework in Liverpool, playing a key role in technical delivery, site coordination, and safe, efficient construction.

About the business you'll be joining

You’ll be joining an established contractor delivering significant highways works on a long‑term Liverpool framework. The environment is collaborative and site‑focused, with strong technical standards, clear processes, and a culture that values safety, quality, and teamwork.

What you’ll be doing day to day as Senior Engineer
  • Setting out and managing day‑to‑day engineering activities to ensure works are delivered safely and accurately.
  • Overseeing quality assurance, inspections, and testing in line with specifications and drawings.
  • Supporting construction planning and sequencing to maintain programme and productivity.
  • Coordinating with subcontractors, supervisors, and the wider site team to resolve technical issues.
  • Reviewing drawings, specifications, and temporary works requirements, raising technical queries where required.
  • Maintaining accurate site records, including as‑built information, ITPs, and quality documentation.
  • Supporting the management of health, safety, and environmental standards on site.
  • Assisting with risk assessments, method statements, and technical input into safe systems of work.
  • Mentoring and supporting Site Engineers and junior members of the engineering team.
  • Liaising with designers, surveyors, and stakeholders to ensure technical requirements are met.
What you’ll need to bring
  • Proven experience in a Site Engineer or Senior Engineer role within highways or civil engineering.
  • Degree‑qualified in Civil Engineering or HND/HNC equivalent.
  • Strong understanding of highways specifications, drawings, and construction methodology.
  • Experience with setting out, quality control, and site documentation.
  • A proactive approach to health, safety, and environmental management.
  • Strong communication skills and a collaborative approach with site teams and subcontractors.
  • Confidence supporting and mentoring less experienced engineers.
