We have exciting opportunities for experienced Registered Pharmacy Technicians to join our Medicines Management clinical team. Our team covers sites across Secure and Acute services. Flexibility in working rosters and travel will be required to support the needs of the service.

Responsibilities
  • Work within a multi‑disciplinary team, supporting patient care and assisting with medicines reconciliations and timely discharge processes for patients with complex mental illnesses and learning disabilities.
  • Assist nursing staff with medicines management processes, completing audits and providing training and education.
  • Work autonomously and within a thriving and well‑developed team to promote and provide a safe, efficient, and cost‑effective pharmaceutical service.
  • Support dispensary services on a rota basis to maintain Technicians’ competencies and to continue to develop your skills.
  • Perform medicines reconciliation, including assessing patient own drugs.
  • Develop and coordinate medication supply systems to meet the needs of patients.
  • Participate in the safe systems for the supply of medication to wards and community‑based teams.
  • Perform final accuracy checking of dispensed prescriptions.
  • Support the supply of discharge and short‑term leave medication at ward level.
  • Provide information to service users and their carers (where appropriate) about their medications in conjunction with the pharmacists.
  • Deliver training to a variety of Health Care Professionals.
  • Complete audits and reports – e.g. Controlled drug audits, safe and secure storage of medication audits etc.
  • Educate and train junior technical and ward staff.
Qualifications

A current and valid BTEC accuracy checking qualification is required. The post‑holder will be obliged to participate in our weekend and bank holiday rotas.
