Overview

An exciting opportunity for Band 3 Healthcare Assistants to join our dynamic teams. Beech Ward (20 bedded male acute psychiatric inpatient service), Oak Ward (22 bedded female acute psychiatric inpatient service), and Maple House (6 bedded male Psychiatric Intensive Care unit) are located at Royal Bolton Hospital, with vacancies across all three wards. We are committed to high quality services aligned with Greater Manchester Mental Health Trust values, and we are looking for keen, dependable, caring and compassionate candidates who are committed to high quality healthcare provision.

Knowledge of inpatient care is desirable but not essential. You will assist and support patients under the guidance of qualified staff to promote recovery and well-being. You will be supported by the team and manager and encouraged to develop your skills within the care environment.

Responsibilities
  • Provide support and assist the professionally qualified staff on the ward/department.
  • Direct nursing care and maintaining a clean and safe environment.
  • Undertake administrative and ancillary duties as required.
  • Maintain a positive, recovery‑focused attitude towards service users.
  • Be flexible to work across sites and across 7 days a week, 24 hours a day, with rotation between wards possible.
Qualifications and Skills
  • Interest in inpatient care; previous experience is desirable but not essential.
  • Willingness to work as part of a multidisciplinary team and to undertake training as required.
  • Commitment to promoting recovery and well-being for adults with mental health needs.
Training and Requirements
  • Completion of the Trust 5‑day PMVA training course (Prevention and Management of Violence and Aggression) to equip the ability to identify, prevent and manage aggressive or violent behaviors in the workplace.
  • Flexibility to work across site and participate in shift patterns including evenings, weekends and bank holidays as required.
