Job description

The right candidate will be provided with a 7-day Healthcare Assistant Induction, introducing you to the Trust and ensuring that you settle into your new role. Successful candidates will receive resources and guidance to complete the national mandatory Care Certificate within 6 months of appointment.

Although experience and qualifications in care are desirable, they are not essential. We seek dedicated, enthusiastic individuals who want to help Team Countess provide safe, kind, and effective care. Training and development opportunities will be available, including the chance to enroll in NVQ Level 2/3 in Health and Social Care, supported by the Trust and Wirral Metropolitan College.

To be invited for an interview, please include a supporting statement of at least 50 words explaining why you want to be a Healthcare Assistant at The Countess of Chester Hospital and what skills, experience, and personal qualities you bring to the role. Good communication skills, including grammar and literacy, are essential.

The Countess of Chester Hospital NHS Foundation Trust serves West Cheshire and Welsh patients, operating from three locations: The Countess of Chester Hospital, Ellesmere Port Hospital, and Tarporley War Memorial Hospital. The Trust employs over 5,916 staff and provides a range of acute, emergency, primary, and community services to a population of approximately 411,000.

We pride ourselves on clinical excellence and creating an environment where staff are valued. Our strategy focuses on continuous improvement, partnership, and innovation. We welcome applications from diverse backgrounds, including underrepresented groups such as Black, Asian, Minority ethnic individuals, and those with disabilities. We are exploring flexible working practices to promote work-life balance.

Recruitment is based on competence and values. Applicants will need to pay for their DBS check, with costs deducted from salary over three months. Enrolling in the DBS Update Service is encouraged. Applications should be submitted early, as the vacancy may close before the deadline if many applications are received.

For roles requiring a DBS check, applicants must submit correct information; errors may lead to withdrawal of the application, requiring a new submission and fee payment. Overseas candidates can refer to the Department of Health and Social Care guidelines for working in the UK health and care sectors.
