Job summary

A prominent healthcare provider in West Bromwich is seeking a Health Care Support Worker. Health Care Support Worker

The closing date is 02 January 2026


Will support the trained nursing staff in the delivery of care patients and contribute to the maintenance of the care environment within our Learning Disability Inpatient Assessment and Treatment Unit.


Main duties of the job


  • To assist in basic care and assessment of the patient as support to, and under the supervision of, a registered nurse/senior support staff.

  • To follow individualised care and therapeutic programmes for patients under the instruction of the nursing staff/senior support staff.

  • To provide support to patients with their personal care.

  • To contribute to the patients plan of treatment by communicating any observations of patients behaviours to the Care co-ordinator or nurse-in charge during periods of duty.

  • To work with all members of the multi-disciplinary team to promote quality care.

Job responsibilities

  • To ensure the relevant policies in respect of patients property and valuables are maintained.

  • To support staff in promoting recreation/leisure amongst patients.

  • To contribute to the promotion of patients education and well-being.

  • To monitor and encourage and record patients in their consumption of food and drink.

  • To accompany appropriate patients of site as and when required.

  • To undertake the relevant management of aggression training such as Proact Scip or MAPPA.

  • To assist in the maintenance of a safe environment.

  • To participate in the observation of patients at risk.
