About Hetherley

Hetherley is a UK-based hotel investment and asset management company focused on unlocking long-term value across the hospitality sector. With a growing portfolio of both branded and independent hotels, we are building a next-generation hotel management platform to serve both our owned/invested assets and third-party owners.

Role Overview

Hetherley is seeking an experienced and commercially-minded Head of Operations to oversee the performance of our managed hotel portfolio. This is a hands-on leadership role suited to someone with deep operational expertise, strong financial control skills and a desire to work more closely within hotel ownership and investment.

You will:

  • Support hotel GMs in delivering on budgets, business plans, and guest satisfaction
  • Drive commercial and operational performance across the portfolio
  • Oversee financial controls and reporting at each property
  • Help grow Hetherley’s hotel management platform by securing new third-party contracts

This role is ideal for a senior operator looking to take a step toward the investment and ownership side of hospitality.

What You’ll Do

Operational & Commercial Delivery

  • Lead operational performance across Hetherley-managed hotels (branded and independent)
  • Support General Managers in achieving revenue, profit, and guest experience targets
  • Implement and optimise commercial strategies: sales, revenue, marketing, and distribution
  • Act as a key support partner and escalation point for hotel leadership teams
  • Ensure strong financial governance across properties: budgeting, forecasting, cash handling, payroll, and procurement
  • Oversee monthly P&L reviews, capital planning, and cost control initiatives
  • Collaborate with finance teams to drive accurate reporting and improve margins
  • Contribute to board-level financial updates and investment reviews

Strategic Growth & Development

  • Align hotel operations with Hetherley’s investment and asset management goals
  • Assist with rebranding, repositioning, or transitioning assets where needed
  • Support business planning for new acquisitions and developments

Platform Expansion

  • Play a key role in growing Hetherley’s third-party hotel management platform
  • Identify and convert new hotel management opportunities across the UK
  • Represent Hetherley with other hotel owners, investors, brands and other stakeholders

What We’re Looking For

Experience

  • 10+ years in hotel operations, including as a Cluster GM, Regional Ops Director, or equivalent senior role
  • Demonstrated success with both branded hotel systems (e.g., Hilton, Marriott, IHG) and independent operations
  • Strong financial acumen with hands-on experience managing hotel budgets, cost controls, and accounting standards
  • Familiarity with owner, bank and investor relations is highly desirable

Mindset

  • Entrepreneurial and driven, with a desire to help drive further expansion
  • Commercially savvy and able to operate strategically and tactically
  • Strong communicator who earns trust from GMs, owners, and partners

Education

  • Degree-level education in hospitality, business, or finance is desirable but not essential
  • Proven leadership and financial control experience will take precedence

Other Requirements

  • UK-based with flexibility to travel regularly across the portfolio
  • Proficient in hotel tech systems (PMS, POS, accounting, reporting)
