Senior Solicitor – Head of Commercial Law (UK) | London | Full Time, Permanent | Working hours are Monday to Friday, 9:00 am – 5:00 pm | £70,000 – £90,000 DOE + Bonus + Equity Options

Our client provides high-quality legal consultancy, built on strategic thinking, creative solutions, and proven results. With international experience and strong expertise in commercial law, they advise on corporate & finance, disputes, intellectual property, and regulatory matters.

They are seeking a highly skilled and commercially driven Senior Solicitor to lead legal strategy and delivery on high-volume financial mis-selling claims, with a specific focus on upcoming car finance mis-selling litigation. The role involves managing multi-claimant actions from pre-litigation review through to resolution, ensuring regulatory compliance, strong claimant engagement, and successful litigation outcomes.

Our client is looking for a dynamic and commercially driven Senior Solicitor who:

  • Is a qualified Solicitor (England & Wales) with at least 8 years PQE (10+ years preferred)
  • Has significant experience in the practice of commercial law, and commercial litigation.
  • Has experience with financial mis-selling litigation (e.g. PPI, payday loans, packaged bank accounts, or motor finance)
  • Understands consumer finance law and regulatory compliance (SRA and FCA)
  • Brings strong drafting, litigation, and leadership skills
  • Is vibrant, professional, and comfortable working in a paperless system

What will your role look like?

  • Manage the Commercial Law Department
  • Lead the development and delivery of a legal framework for car finance mis-selling collective claims, including Hire Purchase (HP) and Personal Contract Purchase (PCP) agreements
  • Oversee and manage large-scale claimant cohorts, ensuring alignment across legal theory, case preparation, and evidential review
  • Draft key legal documentation, including Letters of Claim, Particulars of Claim, witness statements, and instructions to Counsel
  • Coordinate closely with claims acquisition, call centre, and screening teams to ensure only viable, compliant claims are progressed
  • Work in partnership with regulated solicitor firms and legal counsel to pursue litigation under appropriate mechanisms (e.g., test cases, consolidated actions)
  • Interface with funders, ATE insurers, and external Counsel to secure support and resource litigation properly
  • Maintain regulatory compliance with SRA and FCA expectations around financial promotions, client onboarding, and claimant communication
  • Provide legal oversight on all client materials, disclaimers, and contracts
  • Supervise paralegals, litigation assistants, and case handlers within the mis-selling team
  • Identify and assess future mis-selling opportunities (e.g., GAP insurance, warranty products, finance commission models)
