Overview

Please note: at this stage, the role is open only to colleagues currently employed within Kent and Medway NHS Trusts and the Kent and Medway Integrated Care Board (ICB).

We are looking to recruit a Governance Officer to join our team based at the Trevor Gibbens Unit, Maidstone. Supporting the Governance Lead to develop and implement quality governance processes within the Directorate to ensure there is a comprehensive framework to continuously monitor and improve the quality of care provided. You will ensure Directorate systems are fit for purpose to provide leadership in relation to incident reporting, complaints and incident management under the PSIRF framework and provide project support and facilitation to quality improvement projects, as well as provide comprehensive support to Directorate-wide meetings as appropriate.

Main duties
  • Work under the direction of the Governance Lead to ensure the Directorate has a comprehensive framework to continuously monitor and improve the quality of care provided.
  • Support the development and review of current quality data metrics and implement a revised strategy that allows analysis, strategic overview, and understanding the detail at pace.
  • Maintain fit-for-purpose systems to facilitate and manage incident reporting, complaints and incidents, maximise digital solutions, and provide an evidenced system for daily oversight of all incidents submitted to the Directorate.
  • Provide leadership in disseminating and working with teams to ensure evidence of lessons learned from incidents, complaints and feedback is embedded in future practice.
  • Gather CQC evidence, identify gaps in a timely fashion, and provide support to teams as required.
  • Work closely with central support services, including patient safety, to ensure clear lines of communication and to prevent duplication.

Person Specification

Essential

  • Educated to degree level or equivalent.
  • Experience of clinical audit and/or related quality improvement work.
  • Experience of constructing and managing databases/spreadsheets for projects. Good analytical skills and able to justify choice of methodology and summarise and interpret results.
  • Knowledge of structures, concepts and processes of Clinical Governance.
  • High levels of organisational skills to schedule multiple projects simultaneously and prioritise own workload, deadlines and Directorate requirements.
