Job description

The primary focus of the role is to ensure that we are providing best in class standards of corporate governance for the Teachers' Pension Scheme and that we are constantly seeking improvements in that framework to meet our mission of being an exemplar for public sector pension schemes.

Within this role you will take ownership of Client reporting and governance arrangements. The role will include supporting the Head of Governance and Risk in governance arrangements and being a key contact for resolving client queries.

Please note this role will be working on an account that is expected to transfer to a new provider under TUPE in May 2026.

There will be occasional travel to Darlington no more than once a month.

Job Description
What you'll be doing:
  • Support in the provision of the contractual governance structure including overseeing the production of reports; monitoring performance against agreed actions; and delivering management information to stakeholders
  • Facilitate with queries in relation to the TP Contract and monitor key contractual scheme events to ensure completion.
  • Manage the processes for any audits of the TP Operation and specifically those required for the production of the annual report and accounts.
  • Be the key contact for legal and regulatory breaches including root cause analysis and reporting to the Client (including disclosure breaches and data security breaches). Monitor completion of agreed actions to ensure continuous improvement.
  • Liaise with internal partners to support resolution of Client queries, contractual issues and risks.
  • Manage relationships with stakeholders, including regulatory reporting.
  • Take ownership of the TP Secretarial services, preparing meeting papers, monitoring compliance with agreed actions and organising and chairing regular meetings.
  • Provide information as and when required to DfE and the TPS Pension Board.
  • Maintain and update the Business Continuity and Disaster Recovery Plans, facilitating annual testing and embedding awareness throughout the Governance and Risk team.
  • Provide advice and guidance to the business and the Client with regards to data protection, governance and risk.
  • Oversight and approval of invoicing as per the contract.
  • Ownership of the TP contract amendment process.
  • Key client contact for ad hoc queries and requests.
What we're looking for:
  • Knowledge of Teacher's Pensions is beneficial however if you don't have this we will also consider a background in governance and risk.
  • Developed written & verbal communication skills
  • Forward thinking, innovative and can drive effective change
  • Understanding of developing strategy
  • Proactive and positive attitude, focussed on the client, members and other stakeholders
  • A flexible approach to work at all times and a commitment to drive delivery of solutions within deadlines
  • Experienced manager who can adapt to cultural and organisational change
  • Ability to work calmly and effectively under pressure
