Hours: Core Hours 9:30-3:30 Mon-Thurs, 9:30-3:00 Fri (variable hours apply)

Duration: 6 month contract

Position Summary

We are seeking a fully qualified GL Accountant to join our finance team on a 6 month contract, to own core general ledger activities and provide day-to-day oversight of GL Specialist output. This role is pivotal in ensuring the integrity of the ledger, driving a timely and accurate month‑end close, and strengthening our control environment. You will review and sign off on journals and reconciliations prepared by GL Specialists, coach the team, and collaborate cross‑functionally with FP&A, Tax, Treasury, and Operations.

Responsibilities
  • Oversee core Record‑to‑Report (R2R) activities, ensuring accuracy, timeliness, and SOX compliance.
  • Review and approve VAT returns, payroll journals, e‑payable reconciliations, and balance sheet reconciliations in Blackline.
  • Manage the monthly close process, including fixed asset reviews, capital expenditure analysis, and intercompany netting.
  • Provide guidance to junior and GL specialists, acting as accounting subject‑matter expert and R2R manager back‑up.
  • Partner with global site finance teams to meet SLA commitments and resolve escalated issues efficiently.
  • Analyse and report key financial KPIs to management, identifying risks and opportunities for improvement.
  • Drive process optimisation initiatives to enhance accuracy, control, and operational efficiency across finance functions.
Qualifications
  • Part or fully qualified ACCA / CIMA
  • Experience in accounting role
  • Experience with SAP would be an advantage
  • Previous coordinating / managerial experience would be an advantage
  • Solid accounting knowledge
  • Team player mentality
  • Keen attention to detail
  • Comfortable with Microsoft Office applications
  • SAP knowledge advantageous
