Due to this ongoing growth, they have created a new opportunity for a Financial Accounting Manager. Leading a small team, you will take responsibility for overseeing the financial reporting, compliance and consolidation of their group companies. They offer a truly flexible and hybrid approach, with a mix of office based in the centre of York and home based work.

Specific Requirement

Reporting to the Finance Director and managing a small team, your remit will involve Financial Reporting & Accounting, Taxation, General Ledger Maintenance & Compliance. Specifically, you and your team will take responsibility for:

  • Identifying and implementing finance related process improvements.
  • Preparing and reviewing statutory accounts for all group entities in line with UK GAAP.
  • Assisting in the preparation of internal and external financial reports.
  • Managing consolidation entries, including intercompany eliminations and adjustments.
  • Acting as the key liaison for external auditors.
  • Supporting month-end and year-end close processes, ensuring timely and accurate reporting.
  • Performing monthly balance sheet reconciliations and ensure the accuracy of the accounts.
  • Reconciling and posting ledger journal entries accurately and in a timely manner.
  • Overseeing VAT and ensure VAT compliance.
  • Researching corporation tax treatment of business events in order to support tax efficiency.
  • Working with the external Company Secretary to ensure filings & information are kept up to date on Companies House.
Skills & Experience
  • Qualified ACA/ACCA/CIMA/ACCA (Qualified by Experience may may also be considered if you meet all other criteria).
  • Experience from either an accountancy practice or industry.
  • Relevant skills in financial accounting and reporting, VAT and corporation tax.
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple priorities and deadlines.
