Job description

GVA Search is proud to be partnering exclusively with a rapidly growing and family-owned food manufacturing business in London, who is looking to recruit a Finance Business Partner.

This role will focus on all external reporting, including financial statement preparation and audit, corporation tax, and VAT. The successful candidate will manage the monthly balance sheet reconciliation process to ensure all audit requirements are met. The ideal candidate needs to be organized with strong project management skills and be able to command results from cross-functional teams. The role will involve working with a number of internal and external stakeholders and will therefore require strong interpersonal skills with the ability to forge excellent cross-functional business relationships.

Role Responsibilities Include:
  • Ownership of balance sheet risks and opportunities, holding the balance sheet owners to account, ensuring all reconciliations are completed monthly, calculating impacts on forecasts, and fostering a 'no surprises' culture at year-end.
  • Manage the year-end audit and oversee the full end-to-end process, ensuring strict timelines are met.
  • Production of external statutory financial statements, including single entity accounts and group consolidated accounts.
  • Manage the production of year-end tax computations and returns, working with external advisors to meet deadlines.
  • Accountable for all technical accounting matters, including impairments, onerous leases, and dilapidations.
  • Ensure compliance with all updates to accounting standards.
  • Address and resolve any control weaknesses identified during audits.
  • Prepare and submit accurate VAT returns to HMRC.
  • Conduct monthly covenant testing to ensure compliance with bank covenants.
  • Approve bank payments.
  • Manage cash flow budgeting and forecasting.
  • Prepare and submit all required National Statistic Surveys.
  • Perform ad hoc tasks as needed by the business.
Key Experience Required:

The ideal candidate will be a qualified accountant (preferably ACA) or equivalent with relevant post-qualification experience. Experience in commercial business partnering, preferably within FMCG, grocery, or multi-site environments, is essential.

This role suits an ambitious and driven individual with excellent communication skills, comfortable working in a fast-paced, dynamic environment, and capable of challenging key business decisions. Prior experience with NAV, BI, and advanced Excel skills—including financial modeling and handling large datasets—is highly desirable.
