Overview

Be part of a client-centred and integrated team supporting a fun-loving lady who has cerebral palsy. This is a 1-1, 24-hour care role in the client’s own home.

Role

Support Workers (Female)

Pay
  • Weekdays: £15.00 per hour
  • Weekends: £16.50 per hour
  • Sleep shifts: £146.52 per shift – weekdays; £148.02 per shift – weekends
  • 3 days paid sick leave
About the client

The client is a 41-year-old fun-loving lady who has cerebral palsy. She is dependent on assistance for all transfers and personal care. She communicates independently and successfully via an electronic speech aid. The client lives in her own home and requires 1-1 care, 24 hours per day.

About you
Essential
  • An NVQ (or equivalent) in care and recent training would be an advantage
  • Experience caring for people with physical and/or learning disabilities
  • A positive interest in active rehabilitation and a desire to enable the client to reach her full potential
  • You will be female (Due to the occupational nature of the role. This post is compliant with Paragraph 1, Schedule 9 of the Equality Act 2010 relating to Occupational Requirements.)
  • Driver with a full UK driving licence and confidence to drive the client’s car
  • Strong communication skills with the client, her family and other professionals
  • DBS (Disclosure and Barring Service) check on the update service or an enhanced DBS if successful. Initial DBS check paid by us
Desirable
  • Experience managing others and knowledge of organising staff rotas
  • Current training in Equality, diversity and inclusion; Health and safety at work; Control of substances hazardous to health; Fire safety awareness; Infection control; Food hygiene; Manual handling; First aid / basic life support including CPR; Safeguarding vulnerable adults and children; Conflict management; Lone working
Hours

Hours currently available – ideally split between 2 people. Shifts listed below, with Week 1 and Week 2 examples. Hours are negotiated at interview.

    • Mon 12:45 – 20:15
    • Tues 12:45 – 20:15
    • Tues night 20:00 – 08:00
    • Thurs 12:45 – 20:15
    • Sat 12:45 – 20:15
  • Week 2:
    • Mon 12:45 – 20:15
    • Tues 12:45 – 20:15
    • Tues night 20:00 – 08:00
    • Thurs 12:45 – 20:15
    • Sat 7:45 – 13:00
    • Sun night 20:00 – 08:00

Other notes: Hours negotiated at interview.
