Job description
EYFS SEN Teaching Assistant for EYFS Support ( Mornings Only and EYFS experience essential)

In early years, the right support at the right moment can change how a child experiences their day. In this EYFS SEN Teaching Assistant role, you will be that person. This is a mornings only position at a mainstream school in Coventry, supporting a young pupil (3 years old) who is on the pathway for an autism diagnosis. If successful, you will work from 8:30 to 12:30, Monday to Friday.

This is a role for someone who notices the small things, whether it is how they respond to a new activity or what helps them stay calm when the room gets busy.

Responsibilities
  • Provide one to one support each morning, 8:30 to 12:30
  • Help the child take part in sensory play, routines, and early learning
  • Support communication and interaction using simple strategies
  • Offer reassurance during transitions and busy moments
  • Carry out personal care when needed
  • Work closely with the class teacher and SENCO
  • Contribute to short notes that support ongoing assessments
Requirements
  • Experience supporting autistic children within the last three years
  • Recent experience in an EYFS or nursery setting (essential)
  • Understanding of early years development and sensory needs
  • Calm, patient, and consistent approach
  • Ability to form trusting relationships with young children
  • Enhanced DBS on the Update Service or willingness to obtain one
